Your new opportunity at Nine.

This role will see you joining Nine’s Metro Web team, working on the web applications for our major metropolitan mastheads and lifestyle brands - The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, WAtoday, Brisbane Times, Good Food, and Traveller. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the most trusted and used news websites in all of Australia, achieving massive reach everyday. Our entirely cloud-first tech stack was built from the ground up, with a fully automated, Slack integrated CI/CD DevOps environment, and we need you to help us take it to the next level.

We are also currently embarking on one of our biggest projects ever, so this is a particularly exciting time to join the Metro Web team, as you will have the chance to be part of this major project from the ground up.


Job Description


Day to day you will:

  • Craft world-class high performance high availability web applications & interfaces

  • Create auto-scaling, microservices & APIs servicing our huge web and app audiences

  • Work in small autonomous Agile squads

  • Cross skill and train on DevOps and other areas of our stack

  • Build the next generation news experience for a mass audience

Remote working from anywhere in Australia is also an option for this role.

What we would like to see on your resume:

  • Experience designing and building complete web applications and websites from the ground up

  • Demonstrated experience leading large scale projects

  • Experience in front and back end development (with extensive experience in React and Golang languages)

  • Excellent problem solving capabilities

  • Clear communication and influencing skills
